While international travel was no longer suitable, the idea of a coastal road trip had long appealed to us. We planned a gentle driving route along England's southern shoreline, committed to shorter stays of 3-4 nights. Accessible lodgings near our vehicle ensured comfort. The relaxed pace of our celebratory trip was perfect for enjoying scenic drives broken up by cafes. Leisurely strolls replaced exhaustive sightseeing. Evenings finding charming local restaurants and appreciating each other's company felt just right. Memories are best made in quiet moments rather than checking off destinations. I feel thankful we chose this simple anniversary celebration - observing four decades of togetherness by slow appreciation of all life has brought us. Our coastal journey was the joyous recognition John and I had wished.
